Hi all.
I am abit concerned. Back in Janurary i came off the pil after being on it for about 3 years i went on it to regulate my periods as they were very eregular. It did work but i decided to come off it for a while to see how i go and take a brake. The problem is i havent had a period since being off it completly. Do i wait for abit longer and see what happens?

Suz

Don't panic. It can take up to 3 months before your body regulates itself again. After three months, i'd go and see a doctor. However, if you feel uncomfortable, or have any stomach pain, there's no harm in going to have a check-up.

i'm on the pill, have been for about 3 weeks-well i'm now coming to the end of my 7 days break and i thought i was getting my period because of strong cramps etc and i put my divacup in, but i don't think i have my period, i am going back on the pills tomoorrow, is it normal not to get it just to get the cramps? and is my devacup ok left in? i have taken it out regularly to check there is nothing there.

Don't worry too much about this. It takes a few months for the pill to regulate your body's cycles. Again, give it about 3 months. If you're still not having periods, then go and see your doctor. you may bleed during this next month, while you're taking the pills. Don't worry about this either. After a few months, your body will regulate to the cycle you impose on it.

thanks you are right. after about 2 months it sorted it self out. then i went and changed pills lol coz everyone said i was getting too moody. just gotta wait and see with the new one now how quickly things settle down. i guess it takes the same time?

The pill never made me moody, in fact, it helps with that. But for awhile I was on a drug called Depo Privera, and that made me moody as hell. It wasn't pretty.

speaking of the pill in a contraseptive manner, how long does it take to become really effective? You'd think three months, but I'm not sure.

3-6 months as I understand it.

I wonder if that's different for the combined pill as apposed to the progesterone only pill? I was just perscribed the latter yesterday. I'll scan the info and let you all know what I find when i get home.

SisterDawn, i think you're right, i don't actually think it was the pill making me moody/upset, i think it was rather the situation i was in at the time.
as for it as a contraceptive HauntedReverie , my doctor told me not to trust it for 2 weeks, he didn't say anything other than that. couldn't tell you though if this is right, as i am not using it for that reason yet lol.

Hey guys, Just to let you know, it's at least a month before it's good and effective, so use alternate methods till then. Um, forgive my complete stupidity, but what the hell is a devacup? I've heard of pads, tampons, but not this divacup!...

ok for the projestorone pill which is not the combined pill I called the farmasist and got the answer that it is affective after the first week, but it's simelar to getting the depo shots and is more the plug for the curvex rather than the body holding back the egg which is most likely why it would work so much quicker. no more fake estrigine for me thanks.

and for the girl asking about the deva cup. You'll find much more detail on the topic about menstral cups I posted also on the health and wellness board.

I was on the pill about 5 years ago for a whole year, and I'm still not regular! I hear it takes a while to actually regulate, that it's natural, but I dont know. Someone suggested I get back on it, but I dont think so. I actually had to use the patch because the pill was causing me to have headaches and get depressed. So no more pill for me! Lol!

Ya I'm still not regular from the pill and I'm about to go on another. I know crazy, but I don't really have a choice. I want kids one day, and my obgyn refuses to use the IUD even the medel one. *growl

does the pill make you put on weight? i heard this but don't know if it's true

Post 18 by Damia (I'm oppinionated deal with it.) on Sunday, 15-Feb-2009 3:03:11

depends on which pill and the person. For some women it clears up ackney, and for others it gives them more. For some the chemicals are good, and for others it reaks havic, and for some they gain weight. I gained a pound or two but it all seemed to making me another cup size bigger which made me growl quite successfully.
